Dalhousie is one among the beautiful hill stations in Himachal Pradesh. It was famous summer retreats for British troops and bureaucrats. It was named after the Lord Dalhousie a British Governer-General in India. Dalhousie is located at an altitude of 6678 feet high from the sea level and maintains very cold temperature throughout. It even suffers sub-zero temperature during winters.
Apart from its cold and lazy weather it houses plenty of adventurous activities all over, most fo them are hiking, trekking, and very famous winter sports. Dian Kund trek is for the travelers who enjoy leisure walking, Dian Kund is also known as witch's pond in English, trekking stretches up to 6kms or 3hrs walk, with well laid trails and its also called whispering hills since one can hear wind blowing through the trees with creepy noise, one can also see Khajjiar from there, which is located at 22 kms from Dalhousie. Khajjiar is addressed as "mini Switzerland", this grassy meadows has Cedar and Deodar trees surrounding a lake, is a must visit place when on tour to Dalhousie. Punjpala and Satdhara are seven natural springs having medicinal values running across five bridge is one beautiful site. Subhash Baoli is another natural spring which has a great history, it was named after Subash Chandra Bose who was suffering from Tuberculosis got himself cured by drinking water regularly from this particular spring. Kaltop Wildlife Sanctuary is a home for variety of species including Black Bear and Barking Dear, Kaltop trek of 7kms is equally famous. After experiencing all the above, Dalhousie is no doubt a summer destination and a winter capital and is a must place to visit when in India.
